
These sloppy joes are the perfect tomato-free dupe of a comfort food classic! Serve them in a bowl with roasted sweet potato or a gluten-free bun.
Ingredients
For the sloppy joe
- 2 tsp avocado oil
- 1/2 yellow onion, diced
- 1 lb ground beef
- Salt & pepper
- 1 jar daylight veggie pasta sauce
- 2 tbsp coconut aminos
- 2 tsp coconut sugar
- 2 tbsp green onion, chopped
For serving
- Gluten-free buns
- Sliced red onion
- Pickles
Instructions
- Using a large, deep pan set over medium heat, heat the avocado oil until shimmering. Add the onion and saute for 3 minutes on until it begins to soften.
- Add the ground beef, salt and pepper. Crumble the ground beef until browned.
- Pour the Veggie Pasta sauce over the beef, coconut aminos, and coconut sugar. Stir well to combine. Reduce the heat to medium-low and allow to simmer (stirring often) for 10-12 minutes or until thick and reduced. Top with green onion.
- Assemble the sloppy joes with gluten-free buns, sliced red onion, and pickles. Alternatively, you can also make sloppy joe bowls with roasted sweet potato!
